PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Decorative vide-poche in black ceramic depicting a stylized fish. The piece stands out for its relief modelling, which emphasises the scales and contours of the animal in a spirit that is both playful and sculptural. The black tone of the ceramic accentuates the play of volume and shadow across the surface. Signed. 20th-century work, circa 1970.
The fish is a recurring motif in 20th-century decorative ceramics, which readily combined domestic use with freedom of form. Intended to hold keys, jewellery or small objects, this vide-poche can also be displayed on its own as a decorative piece, on a console table, a desk or a shelf.
