PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Each andiron of this pair is composed with geometric precision: a slender wrought iron upright rises from a gracefully arched crescent foot and carries two circular rings — one at mid-shaft and one at the apex — that articulate the vertical composition into clearly defined zones. The interplay of upright bar, arc, and circle draws from a modernist geometric vocabulary in which simple forms are combined with structural confidence to produce objects of visual clarity and material integrity.

The arched base — a smooth curved band that meets the floor at two points — is a refined departure from the conventional flat andiron foot, elevating the piece on a single elegant arc that draws the eye in a continuous sweep from floor to finial. This detail, combined with the rhythmic stacking of rings on the upright, gives each andiron a lively, animated quality despite its essential simplicity.

The blackened wrought iron is finished to a dark, even surface that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, lending the pair a quiet authority well suited to the modernist interior. Andirons of this type, produced by French artisan metalworkers for the luxury market of the 1960s and 1970s, are sought after today for their confident geometry and the quality of their hand-forged construction.
