PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This six-bottle wine rack represents a fine synthesis between natural craft and the modernist design sensibility of France in the 1960s and 1970s. Six cylindrical tubes in closely woven dark rattan — nearly black in its deep brown tone — are arranged in the classic pyramidal pattern: three at the base, two in the middle row, one at the apex, held together by a black lacquered metal frame. A leather carrying handle arching across the top gives the piece a portable character and an elegant presence.

The combination of woven rattan, lacquered metal and leather is characteristic of a certain French and Italian production of the 1960s and 1970s, which sought to reconcile the care of natural craft with the demands of modern living. The rattan brings warmth and texture, the metal structural rigour, and the leather a noble and functional touch — three materials that balance each other with obvious coherence.

Designed to present bottles lying on their sides, this rack fits within the tradition of domestic cellar service, allowing for proper wine conservation and a considered presentation at table or on a sideboard. Its leather handle makes it equally suited to movement between cellar and dining room, or to outdoor entertaining.

In fine general condition, the rattan and metal are intact and the leather remains supple. A table accessory that combines the practical with the aesthetic — elegant, robust and fully in keeping with the natural design spirit of the seventies.
