PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This large neoclassical style brass coffee table with an églomisé mirror top is one of the most sophisticated creations of Maison Jansen, the legendary Parisian decoration house founded in 1880. The generous size of this table places it among the centrepieces of Jansen's 1940s production, marking its belonging to the most ambitious interiors that the house was called upon to decorate under the artistic direction of Stéphane Boudin.
The églomisé mirror top — aged and patinated glass, treated to obtain the delicate spots and misty effects characteristic of this technique — constitutes the most precious element of the composition. This technique, popularised in the 18th century and revived by the great Art Deco and neoclassical decorators of the 1930s and 1940s, lent furniture an unparalleled visual depth and atmosphere of mystery. Maison Jansen was one of its most skilled practitioners, integrating these patinated mirrors into brass structures of impeccable elegance.
A piece of great stature, this Jansen brass and églomisé mirror coffee table is destined to occupy a central position in whichever salon it graces. Rare and highly sought after by collectors worldwide, it constitutes a premier heritage investment and an exceptional testament to the decorative genius of Maison Jansen.
