PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This neoclassical style brass coffee table with a green marble top is a characteristic creation of Maison Jansen, the prestigious Parisian decoration house founded in 1880. A sister piece to numerous similar works produced by the Jansen workshops for the grandest residences in the world, it illustrates the absolute refinement that Stéphane Boudin, the house's artistic director in the 1940s, imparted to each of his creations.
The green marble top, likely Verde di Mare or Verde Alpi marble, constitutes the focal point of the composition. This noble material, quarried from the finest European sources, was particularly prized by Maison Jansen for its complex veining and its ability to harmonise with the golden warmth of polished brass. The confrontation between the cold minerality of the marble and the metallic brilliance of the brass is one of the most elegant aesthetic signatures of the house.
A piece of timeless elegance, this Jansen coffee table with its green marble top is particularly rare on the market, as marble is a fragile material and few examples have survived the decades undamaged. Its excellent state of conservation makes it an exceptional acquisition, testifying to the care with which these pieces have been preserved.
