PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This elegant modernist coffee table, designed by Guy Lefèvre for the legendary Parisian house Maison Jansen around 1970, represents one of the most sought-after genres of French design furniture from the decade. Lefèvre’s work for Jansen during this period is characterised by a rigorous architectural clarity that translates the house’s classical heritage into the language of modernism with exceptional refinement.

The table is composed of a polished brass frame with clear glass shelves—a version that emphasises the transparency and lightness of the composition. The clear glass allows the eye to pass through the shelves, reinforcing the architectural quality of the brass frame and creating a sense of openness suited to both period interiors and contemporary rooms. The generous proportions—122 cm wide and 82 cm deep—make this a substantial and commanding piece.

Guy Lefèvre, who worked as principal designer at Maison Jansen from the late 1960s, brought a new contemporary rigour to the celebrated Parisian house whilst maintaining its uncompromising commitment to quality and luxury. His furniture, always produced to the most exacting standards by the Jansen ateliers, has become some of the most collected French decorative design of the second half of the twentieth century.
