PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This delicate three-tier sycamore and brass console or side table is a characteristic piece of the Maison Jansen style in its inter-war and 1940s productions. The combination of sycamore — a blond wood with silvery reflections, highly prized in the Parisian Art Deco ateliers — with gilt brass and black lacquered brass creates a contrast of materials of particular refinement and typicality for Jansen production. The light three-tier structure, of impeccable construction, testifies to the high technical mastery of the house's workshops.

Sycamore is one of the most extensively used woods by French cabinetmakers of the 1920s to 1940s, notably by the masters of Art Deco such as Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Jules Leleu, and the Jansen workshops. Its fine grain, pale tone, and shimmering reflections make it an ideal material for furniture pieces in which lightness and elegance are paramount. The combination with brass, Jansen's preferred material, produces a warm and harmonious chromatic palette.

This console presents in fine overall condition. Its compact size and three-tier form make it highly versatile: as a sofa end table, entrance console, display stand, or light serving table. It will find its natural place in a classical or Art Deco drawing room, bringing the discreet elegance of a high-quality object.
