This rattan desk is a creation of Louis Sognot (1892-1970), one of the most important French designers of the twentieth century and a major figure of the French modernist movement. An active member of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM) alongside Charlotte Perriand, René Herbst and Eileen Gray, Sognot dedicated his career to exploring the possibilities of natural materials in the creation of functional and innovative furniture. His work with rattan, treated with remarkable modernity, earned him international recognition from the 1930s.
