PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Each armchair presents a resolutely geometric architecture: a slightly inclined straight back, parallelepiped armrests detached from the back, a deep cushioned seat — the whole entirely upholstered in a warm brick-red velvet. The tapered base of black lacquered metal, ending in brass sabots, visually lightens the upholstered mass and marks the period.

This cubic design softened by velvet, set on two-tone tapered feet, is characteristic of French Modernist seating of the 1950s, in the spirit of the productions of the great Reconstruction decorators who married generous comfort with clean lines.

Condition report: Good general condition. Red velvet of fine hold, presenting an even patina of use; supple upholstery, stable bases, patinated brass sabots. A comfortable and graphic pair, ideal on either side of a fireplace or facing a sofa.
