PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This wall mirror presents a circular mirror plate set within a frame of thick, tightly braided rope, the natural fibre wound and layered to create a substantial, deeply textured border. Above the mirror, a large hanging loop of the same braided rope rises to a graceful arch, serving both as the suspension mechanism and as a defining element of the composition — the overall silhouette, mirror and loop together, forming a satisfying teardrop or lantern shape. Where the loop meets the frame, decorative rope knots provide a finishing detail that speaks to the care taken in its construction.

The piece is made in the manner of Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet, the French design partnership whose pioneering use of rope, canvas, and natural cordage in furniture and decorative objects during the 1940s and 1950s established a visual language that inspired French artisans for decades. Works produced in their spirit — sharing their materials, their tactile warmth, and their honest approach to natural fibres — continue to be sought after for the same qualities that made the originals so enduring: a combination of informality and craft that sits easily in both coastal and urban interiors.

The overall dimensions of 31 centimetres wide by 51 centimetres tall — the latter including the hanging loop — give this mirror a presence that is substantial without being imposing. It is ideally suited to entrance halls, bathrooms, or anywhere a warm, characterful accent is desired. The neutral warmth of natural rope means it pairs readily with linen, terracotta, wicker, and bleached or painted wood.

A well-made and evocative example of French mid-century natural-material decorative craft, this mirror offers the warmth and authenticity of the Audoux-Minet aesthetic at an accessible scale.
