PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This distinguished set of three nesting tables presents circular structures in polished brass, each supporting a top of smoked glass whose subtly tinted surface introduces a note of mysterious depth that beautifully complements the warm gleam of the metal below. The three tables, graduated in size and conceived to nest together in perfect harmony, create a visual hierarchy of luminous forms — the brass structures gleaming with the warmth of gold, the smoke-tinted glass tops absorbing and reflecting the light with an almost liquid quality. The round format and the pairing of brass and smoked glass place this suite firmly within the refined Parisian production of the late 1930s and 1940s, when the circular form was particularly favored for its ability to create a sense of fluid social ease.
These tables are attributed to Maison Ramsay, the distinguished Parisian decorating house active during the first half of the twentieth century, whose production in the neoclassical and Art Deco taste furnished the most refined private residences in France. Like the other great Parisian decorating houses of its era — Jansen, Alavoine, Carlhian — Maison Ramsay produced furniture and objects of the highest material quality, combining classical formal clarity with the decorative refinements that distinguished Parisian luxury from all other. Their nesting tables in brass and glass were particularly prized for the flexibility they offered — a practical and beautiful solution for the salon and drawing room alike, the trio of tables serving equally as a coffee table composition or as separate occasional surfaces deployed throughout the space.
This trio of nesting tables offers exceptional decorative presence and practical versatility in equal measure. Used together, their circular forms and smoked glass tops compose a striking tableau of coordinated luxury; used separately, they become elegant accent surfaces wherever needed. The combination of polished brass and smoked glass is as compelling today as it was when these tables were made — a pairing of materials whose complementary warmth and depth remain eternally seductive. A rare complete set for the discerning collector.
