PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This bronze sculpture represents a bull in the full force of its animality — compact silhouette, powerful neck, muscles rippling beneath a dark, warm patina. The model, of great plastic vigour, bears witness to mastery of the lost-wax or sand casting technique, which allows the volumes and textures of the animal to be rendered with great precision.
The bull holds an emblematic place in 20th-century French animal sculpture. After Pompon and Bugatti, who revolutionised the genre in the 1920s–1930s, many workshops perpetuated this tradition by producing quality bronzes for collectors and enthusiasts. The hollow stamp visible on the piece attests to its origin and authenticates its production.
French work, circa 1950. Fine dark brown patina. A cabinet object of remarkable presence, ideal on a desk, console, or shelf.
