PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Pair of brass sculptures depicting stylized birds, each set on a round wooden base encircled by a brass band. The simplified forms and clean lines recall the decorative vocabulary of Art Deco, reinterpreted here several decades later. The sculptures measure 21.5 cm wide, 21.5 cm deep and 31 cm high. French work in the Art Deco style, circa 1970.
The stylized bird, a recurring motif in the decorative arts of the 1920s and 1930s, continued to inspire the following decades. Displayed as a pair on either side of a fireplace, on a console table or in a bookcase, these sculptures play on symmetry and on the contrast between the gleam of brass and the warmth of wood.
