PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Wrought and hammered iron sculpture depicting a stylized sailing boat on the waves, with a copper sail forming an elegant contrast with the dark structure of the metal. This pared-down composition is characteristic of the Art Deco vocabulary of the 1920s. The model is recorded and attributed to Raymond Subes (1891–1970), the celebrated French master ironworker and a major figure of the Parisian decorative arts, known for wrought-iron works combining architectural rigour and sculptural lines. Unsigned. French work, circa 1925.
