PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This elegant circular drinks trolley is constructed in rich mahogany with refined brass hardware and fittings, presenting the harmonious proportions and meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of the finest Parisian interior furniture of the 1930s and 1940s. The circular form — unusual and particularly graceful — rests on a wheeled base allowing easy movement. The warm tones of the mahogany are complemented by the golden gleam of the brass, creating a composition of quiet luxury and impeccable taste.
This piece is attributed to Maison Jansen, the legendary Parisian decorating firm founded on the Rue Royale in 1880 by the Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Under the direction of Stéphane Boudin, who led the atelier from the 1930s through the 1960s, Maison Jansen became the most prestigious interior decorating firm in the world, furnishing the residences of kings, dukes, film stars, and heads of state. Their furniture, characterised by the refined use of mahogany and brass in the Directoire and Regency traditions, was produced to the very highest standards of quality and taste. Among their celebrated commissions were the apartments of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, the residences of Elsie de Wolfe, and the White House under Jacqueline Kennedy.
This drinks trolley embodies the quintessence of Maison Jansen's approach: classical forms elevated by irreproachable materials and flawless execution. It is equally suited to serve as a bar trolley in a drawing room, a side table beside a sofa, or a decorative accent in an entrance hall. An exceptional piece for collectors of Maison Jansen furniture and admirers of the grand French interior.
