PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This graceful three-tier gilt brass trolley on casters with antique mirror shelves is a typical creation of Maison Jansen's production in the 1940s, in which neoclassical refinement and practical utility are combined with great success. Each shelf, composed of a mirror with an aged, warm-toned backing, captures light and creates a remarkable effect of depth and preciousness. The finely turned brass structure, resting on original castors, ensures the mobility essential in the grand drawing rooms for which this piece was intended.
Maison Jansen excelled in this type of small service and occasional furniture — trolleys, drinks tables, gueridons — that allowed one to furnish the corners of a drawing room or facilitate service at the table during grand receptions. The antique mirror shelves, a recurring signature of Jansen production from the 1930s to the 1950s, bring a precious, luminous dimension that transcends mere utility, making each piece a decorative object in its own right.
This trolley presents in fine overall condition, with the beautiful antique patina of the brass and mirrors. It will naturally find its place in an elegant drawing room, dining room, or entrance hall — as a service trolley, display stand, or simple occasional table — bearing the heritage of the greatest decoration house of the twentieth century.
