PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This elegant neoclassical brass drinks trolley, of French manufacture and dating from the 1930s–1940s, is a fine example of the luxury domestic furniture that equipped the finest Parisian residences and country houses of the interwar period. The removable trays—a practical refinement allowing the piece to serve both as a trolley and as a tray stand—reflect the thoughtful attention to function that characterised the best French furniture of the period.
The piece is executed entirely in polished brass, the slender frame enriched with classical ornamental details drawn from the vocabulary of neoclassical design: beading, fluting, and fretwork motifs that recall the great tradition of French luxury metalwork stretching back to the Ancien Régime. The whole stands on four elegant castors, allowing the trolley to be moved effortlessly from room to room.
French neoclassical brass drinks trolleys of this quality, from the golden age of Parisian interior decoration in the 1930s and 1940s, are today eagerly sought by collectors and interior decorators alike for their combination of practical utility and decorative elegance. This example, with its well-preserved brass and intact removable trays, represents an excellent specimen of this enduring genre.
