PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This charming small-scale neoclassical oval drinks trolley, by the celebrated Parisian house Maison Baguès and dating from the 1930s–1940s, offers all the refinement of its larger counterparts in a more intimate format. Executed entirely in polished brass, the oval form and the two removable trays—each framed by a delicate openwork gallery—testify to the exceptional quality of finish for which the Baguès atelier was justly celebrated.
The double removable trays, each encircled by an openwork gallery of classical inspiration, provide both practical utility and decorative elegance. The gallery motif, drawn from the vocabulary of eighteenth-century French silver and furniture, brings to the piece a sense of historical continuity that was central to the Baguès aesthetic. The slender brass frame, raised on four elegant castors, completes the ensemble with characteristic grace.
Maison Baguès, one of the great Parisian houses of luxury metalwork and lighting, was particularly renowned for the diversity of its production: from monumental chandeliers to the most intimate occasional furniture. This small trolley exemplifies their mastery at every scale, demonstrating that the same attention to proportion, ornament, and craft was brought to bear on the most modest commission as on the grandest.
