PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This elegant pair of wall lights takes the form of stylised palm trees executed in polished brass, their fronds curving gracefully to support the light fittings. The combination of the naturalistic palm motif with the warm lustre of the brass and the Neoclassical proportions of the composition is characteristic of the luxurious decorative vocabulary fashionable in Parisian ateliers during the 1960s and 1970s. The pair provides a symmetrical and theatrical lighting effect, ideally suited to a grand interior.

These wall lights are executed in the distinctive manner of Maison Charles, the celebrated Parisian house founded in 1908 and renowned throughout the twentieth century for its opulent bronze and brass decorative objects, lighting, and furniture. Under the direction of the Charles family, the atelier became synonymous with the French luxe interior, producing palm tree candelabras, bamboo lamps, and exotic animal bronzes that adorned the salons of aristocrats, grand hotels, and distinguished collectors worldwide. Their work, firmly rooted in the Neoclassical and Empire traditions, brought an exotic theatricality to the grandest interiors of the period.

Today these wall lights bring warmth, elegance, and an unmistakably French character to any interior. Their palm tree form is both timeless and fashionable, harmonising equally with Neoclassical, Directoire, Empire, or contemporary décor. Mounted as a pair, they frame a console, mirror, or artwork with theatrical symmetry, animating the wall with their sculptural presence and golden light.
