PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This umbrella stand presents a finely turned central brass column, embellished with rings and a baluster, ending in a carrying ring that allows the object to be moved easily. It passes through a polylobed wooden tray pierced with wide circular openings, each intended to accommodate a cane or an umbrella, centred with a brass rosette. The whole rests on a circular brass base with a cyma profile forming a basin, designed to collect rainwater.
This type of cane stand on a central column belongs to the Neoclassical vocabulary of the turn of the century: careful turnings, patinated brass, elegant functionality. A vestibule object par excellence, it bears witness to the art of entertaining in bourgeois interiors of the Belle Époque, where the entrance had to be as well cared for as the reception rooms.
Condition report: Good general condition. Brass with an even, slightly amber patina of use; wooden tray presenting the marks of time, occasional minor oxidations. A vestibule accessory full of character, as decorative as it is functional near a front door.
