PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This chandelier features a central gilt bronze shaft depicting pleated and crossed ribbons, surmounted by a ribbon bow tied with virtuosity and ending in the lower part with passementerie tassels. Five foliate light arms spring from it, carrying chased cups and faux candles with drips. A garland of roses and small flowers in polychrome porcelain runs between the arms, bringing a delicate pastoral note. Original link chain and gadrooned ceiling cap.
This model with a ribbon bow and porcelain flowers illustrates the Louis XVI taste brought back into favour around 1900, when Parisian bronze-casters reinterpreted with refinement the repertoire of the 18th century for the elegant interiors of the Belle Époque.
Condition report: Good general condition. Gilt bronze with a fine patina, porcelain flowers well preserved on the whole — minute chips always being possible on this type of decoration. Wiring to be checked before use. A chandelier full of charm for a bedroom, a boudoir or an entrance hall.
