PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A graceful art glass vase of elongated pear form, blown in a soft translucent glass of amethyst-lavender tonality that shifts between purple, violet, and pale mauve depending on the quality and angle of light. The silhouette is cleanly modernist: the body swells gently from a narrow base before tapering through a long, elegant shoulder to a slender neck opening, the whole profile describing a line of studied simplicity entirely characteristic of the best French decorative glasswork of the 1960s and 70s.

The interior of the vase conceals a further refinement: viewed from above or through the glass body, decorative applied elements — abstract in character, possibly evoking aquatic life — are visible within the base of the piece, lending an additional layer of visual interest to an already beautiful object. The thick glass walls act as a lens, magnifying and softening the internal decoration so that it appears to float within the amethyst mass.

The amethyst-lavender colour palette places this vase within a distinguished lineage of coloured French art glass, where the controlled use of mineral oxide colorants has long been prized for the way it transforms natural and artificial light into something luminous and interior. On a windowsill or lit from below, the vase glows with a depth of colour that shifts constantly with the light of the day.
