PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Neoclassical lantern in brass and silvered metal, with a round faux-glass panel in hard plastic. The interplay of golden brass and silvered metal underlines the neoclassical design of the lantern, while the round hard plastic panel takes the place of the traditional glass. Circa 1970.
The lantern, a hanging light long associated with entrance halls, vestibules and stairwells, was widely reinterpreted in the 20th century. In the 1970s, the neoclassical vocabulary was readily combined with modern materials, as the use of plastic shows here. Hung in an entrance, a corridor or above a table, this lantern provides soft light and a classical note.
