PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Art Deco pedestal table. A small occasional piece, the guéridon here takes on an expression specific to the Art Deco vocabulary, with its attachment to rigorous lines and balanced volumes. Circa 1920–1930.
Art Deco, which flourished in France in the 1920s and 1930s, renewed furniture design by combining geometry, restraint of form and attention to materials. The guéridon held a prominent place in it as an occasional piece, both practical and decorative. Placed beside an armchair, in an entrance hall or at the centre of a small sitting room, it can hold a lamp, a vase or a few books, bringing a note characteristic of the interwar years to an interior.
