PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This elegant rectangular drinks trolley, in the refined neoclassical spirit of Maison Jansen, represents the tradition of French service furniture at its most accomplished. Standing taller than many examples of the type, the trolley combines the practicality of a well-appointed drinks cart with a decorative presence that would not have been out of place in the finest Parisian drawing rooms of the interwar period.

The brass framework is developed around two removable glass tray shelves, each enclosed within a gallery rail of delicate balusters — a recurrent motif in the Jansen vocabulary — that prevents glassware from shifting during service. The two large spoke wheels give the piece a confident, almost carriage-like mobility, while the curved push handle at the rear allows it to be guided with ease. Every detail, from the turned posts to the scrolled handle brackets, bespeaks the high craft tradition that distinguished French luxury furniture of the era.

In the decades since its manufacture, pieces of this type have acquired a devoted following among collectors of French decorative arts, appreciated equally for their period atmosphere and their continued functionality. They are equally persuasive in a traditional or contemporary interior, bringing an effortless note of Parisian elegance to any setting.

In good vintage condition overall. The brass retains a warm patina; glass shelves present and intact.
