Constructed from intricately strung beads and cut crystal elements, this Italian chandelier of circa 1970 belongs to a distinctive tradition of decorative lighting that flourished in northern Italy during the postwar decades. The cascading arrangement of crystal and bead strands creates a shimmering curtain of refracted light, the overall silhouette balancing the geometric clarity favoured by the mid-century aesthetic with the more sensuous opulence of the Italian craft tradition.
